Prenatal Genetics First Trimester Screening There are thrilling advances being made in genetic screening during pregnancy. A monumental shift is taking place emphasizing earlier, more accurate screening. OriGens is excited to bring First Trimester Screening to you. First trimester screening is the most effective screening tool to identify pregnancies at risk for Down Syndrome, and more sensitive than current second trimester screening (AFP screening, Quad screening). It is our goal to make this superior tool available to anyone that wants it. Second Trimester Screening Second Trimester Screening is the current standard of care for pregnancy screening. Changes are taking place at the local and national level with this screening. California plans to drop the current Expanded AFP triple screen in favor of Quad screening.
